Science Lesson 192: History of Engineering

Engineering is an incredibly old field in the scientific circles, in fact, it might be the second oldest out of them. People were doing basic calculations and figuring out how to make things far before they were classifying animals and plants, let alone elements.

Examples of some very early engineering include the wheel and a lever. The wheel was devised as a means to transport objects easier by making a shape which had less friction. The lever was used in ancient times, although it was first recorded by Archimedes, a brilliant mathematician and engineer.

The Great Wall of China and the roman aqueducts were two amazing engineering spectacles that happened.

Next, we have multiple, and I’ll list them in their chronological order: The Channel Tunnel (one of the modern wonders), the Empire State Building (had been the highest building for a while), and finally, the Bur Halifax, the world’s tallest building.
