Francesco Petrarch is believed to be one of the founding fathers of the Renaissance, a turning point in the history of man. He was a poet, as a well as a thinker.
Petrarch lived a life unlike any other person during his time. He was the first tourist in recorded history, travelling around the world to see the sights. He is also the first mountain climber, climbing up Mt. Ventoux. just to see the sights from above.
He stumbled upon the writings of Plato, specifically Humanism, and thought that it was a pretty good idea, and went with it, spreading the idea as best as he could. This philosophy was based off of the idea that man don’t need God’s help to be able to accomplish all the things that he needs to.
He died in the year 1374, about 20 years from the birth of Giotto, another one of the founding fathers of the Renaissance.
