Robinson Crusoe rescues Friday, and makes it his job to teach the poor savage about the English customs and beliefs. This he does with great success, and soon, Friday can talk almost as good as Crusoe.
Several days later, Friday comes running to Crusoe, telling hi that 3 canoes had arrived, carrying 21 men in all. Robinson immediately decides to help the people that they were about to eat, and while doing so, rescue Friday’s dad. Needless to say, Friday was very happy that his father is alive, and the other man, was a Spaniard, who was good at whicker-ware, and made some very fine baskets.
The Spaniard tells him that he still has a crew of 16 men on the island. They were about to embark on a journey to go and get the when the Spaniard says that they should increase their stock of food before they get the men, so that they wouldn’t complain about the lack of food. Seeing the logic in this, Crusoe waits about 6 months for the food to grow, and lets the sheep multiply.
