Math Lesson 113: Higher Order Radicals

So we all know that a square root is when you try to find the factor of a number that, if multiplied by itself, will equal afore mentioned number. Example: and .

But what are higher order radicals? Higher order radicals are numbers in which you have to find a factor that, if multiplied by itself multiple times, you’ll get the original number. Example: and . If you notice, that three in the little crook of the radical symbol signifies how many times you have to multiply a factor of 27 to get 27.
