There are 5 plot points in a book, which are theme, character development, setting, style, and plot. I will only be summarizing 2 of the plot points: 1) Character Development; and 2) Author’s Style.
The book is based on a tragedy that happens to a family after the War of the Roses. A knight, the father of the boy, was killed in battle, and they now have to flee the country, since his father fought against the king. This event shapes the future of the child, and is the reason why he becomes a knight of the Order later on in the book. The child, Gervaise, goes through his second stage of development when he shows his mentors how smart, strong, and adept with weapons. He is shipped off to Rhodes, and island that is part of Greece, and trains there to become a knight. He becomes the best knight out of the bunch, which is another stage of development. He later on learns Turkish, which helps him prevent the Order from being crippled so severely that they didn’t stand a chance against Turkish pirates.
The author of the book is G.A. Henty, and his writing style is of historical fiction. All if his characters are brave, smart, strong, and adept at handling weapons. All of them are very near invincible, barely getting anything worse than fairly shallow cuts.
