Alice in Wonderland (Lesson 81)

Today I read the first two chapters of Alice in Wonderland, one of the most popular children’s book in the world. It was written by Lewis Carroll, who has published other works such as Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There, and Sylvie and Bruno.

The first chapter is about how Alice ends up in Wonderland by following a white talking rabbit that had a waistcoat and a watch. She follows this rabbit into a hole that she manages to fit into, and plummets down, down, down, passing through what looked like the rabbits home, with shelves lining the walls with various objects on them, from food to pictures. She finally finishes falling by landing on a large pile of leaves, just in time to see the rabbit scurry down a hallway. She follows him there, and finds her self in a grand room, with multiple doors and no key.

That’s when chapter two begins. Chapter two is mainly about how she goes through the process of shrinking and growing. While she is growing, she starts crying because of her misfortune, and makes an ocean out of her surroundings by crying so much. she also has trouble getting accustomed to talking to the inhabitants of Wonderland, since they are all mostly animals, with few humans thrown into the mix.
