Henry VI of England

Henry VI of England is probably one of the countries most revered kings, his most notable accomplishment being his conquering of France during the Hundred Years War.

Henry VI started out his life much like the Marauders from Harry Potter, as soon as the 4 of them grew up, they matured as they realized how much responsibility they had. To Henry, this happened when he was crowned king after his father’s death. He and his friends (read: pranksters), had to mature.

The conflict between the two nations re-started when Henry said that the country Normandy, belonged to the English, since his descendent, William the Conquer, was the Duke of Normandy. The French didn’t pay attention to this, and didn’t give him the land.

Henry wouldn’t take no for an answer. Gathering an army of 30,000 men, he marched on France. As soon as they landed, a disease struck his army, and he ended up with half the men that he had. They gathered outside of Agincourt, and the two armies clashed there. The French outnumbered them by around 35,000 men, but due to the superior strategy of the English, they ended up with the upper hand in that battle. Some of the casualties on the side of the French included several high ranking nobles that owned a considerable amount of land.

But that wasn’t enough for Henry. He told his army that they were not to take anything from the villages that they raided, or not to kill and innocent citizens.

The war was one by the English, and a betrothal contract was signed between Henry and Katherine, the daughter of the current king of France.
